Lawn thatch is not caused by
grass clipping left on the lawn. In fact, grass clipping can
be a source of nutrients for the lawn.
WHAT
IS LAWN THATCH?
Lawn thatch is a layer of un-decomposed stems, roots and
other debris that accumulates near the soil surface.
When thatch becomes excessive, the lawn may root into the
thatch rather than the soil. Since thatch does not hold
moisture, lawns rooted into thatch will not tolerate dry
weather or cold temperatures.
The rate at which thatch accumulates is determined by
moisture, environmental conditions and the type of grass.
Over application of nitrogen promotes thatch accumulations.
NOTE:
Contrary to popular belief, grass clippings do not
contribute to thatch accumulations. In fact, grass
clippings, left on the lawn, can stimulate soil biomass and
produce nutrients necessary for healthy plant growth.
WHAT
IS CB-712
CB-712 is a natural
product, formulated
to accelerate the decomposition of lawn thatch, grass
clippings and other organic residue. When used
as directed, CB-712 can (1) aid in the restoration of soil biomass, (2) aid in building humus and
(3)
promote soil and plant improvement. .
APPLICATION
RATE
6 to 10 oz./1000 sq. ft. diluted
in water
Apply when soil
temperature is above 46F.
APPLICATION
INTERVAL
For thatch prevention apply once per season.
For
thatch reduction apply 2 to 3 times per season depending on the
thickness of thatch.
NOTE:
For best results, use together
with CBLC
grass & turf conditioner. In lawns with heavy thatch,
aeration may be necessary to ensure contact with the soil
& thatch.
