PLANT NUTRIENT REQUIREMENTS
Healthy
soil is a combination of minerals, rock, water, air, organic matter (plant and
animal residue), microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi and protozoa and a
variety of insects and worms. In healthy soil this intricate web carries out a
process that continually replenishes the soil and maintains long-term soil
fertility.
Typically, chemical fertilizers
are applied based on NPK values and, since plants require more than copious
amounts of NPK to sustain growth, it is fair to say that, sooner or later, a
deficiency of trace elements will occur. It is also important to consider the
fact that soils are derived from weathered parent material and if the parent
material was low in a particular element then, so to is the resulting soil.
Plants require 16-17 elements
generally referred to as macro-nutrients and trace elements. Macro-nutrients
include, nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium
(Mg) and sulfur (S). Trace elements include, iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper
(Cu) and zinc (Zn). For optimum plant growth, the soil must be capable of
storing these nutrients and transferring them to the roots for uptake by plants.
ABOUT CB-RSG
CB-RSG
is a broad-spectrum natural plant growth stimulant for
natural and
conventional farming, gardening and sustainable agriculture.
CB-RSG is formulated with high grade macro and micro nutrients,
amino acids, enzymes, proteins, vitamins and minerals. CB-RSG
can be used alone or in conjunction with chemical inputs in
any Standard Crop Management Program and
is effective when soil or foliar applied. CB-RSG offers
significant benefits for farmers and gardeners who practice sustainable
agriculture.
When
used as directed CB-RSG can aid in...
•
Increasing inorganic
nutrient availability
•
Biological nitrogen fixation
•
Suppressing
plant pathogens
•
Stimulating root
development.
•
Stimulating
indigenous biomass
•
Reducing soil
compaction
•
Promoting ecological balance in the soil.
•
Soil
restoration
•
Improving photosynthetic efficiency.
CB-RSG can
improve soil porosity, drainage and aeration and reduce
compaction. In addition, it can improve the water holding capacity of the
soil thereby helping plants resist drought and produce
better crops in reduced moisture conditions. One estimate
indicates that a 5% increase in soil organic matter
quadruples the soils ability to hold and store water.
CB-RSG can
increase the available nitrogen far in excess of its own
content by stimulating soil
microbes. Nitrogen is a plant stimulator, regulator
and a carrier of elements. For plants to benefit from
nitrogen, the elements must first be converted into
nitrates. This conversion is carried out by microobes
that metabolize nitrogen as an energy source.
TEST
RESULTS
Tests
conducted at the National Soils and Water Resources Center
revealed the following:
1. Plants
treated with CB-RSG exhibited 100 percent filled grains
compared to other treatments and control.
2. Plants
sprayed with CB-RSG alone showed minimal pest infestation
and disease infection.
3. CB-RSG
assists the soil in retaining up to 40% more water .
Accordingly plants fertilized with CB-RSG require less
watering.
Table-3
below
shows the grain yield and other agronomic characteristics as
manifested by the different treatments during the dry
season.
COMPATIBILITY
CB-RSG is compatible with most insecticides, fungicides and
synthetic fertilizers.
METHODS OF APPLICATION
CB-RSG has
proven to be effective on a wide variety of crops and can be applied
pre-emergent as well as post-emergent using standard application techniques.
These include (1) aerial and ground spraying, (2) direct injection into
irrigation water, (both ground and sprinkler systems), (3) fogging, (4)
fertigation, (5) hydroponics and (4) foliar feeding.
DILUTION
RATIOS
CB-RSG is 100 percent water soluble and must be diluted
in water. Higher dilution rates are recommended for best
crop coverage. Example: For new, less dense foliage
dilute at a rate of 8 oz./5 Gal. water For mature foliage
dilute at a rate of 10 to 12 oz./10 Gal. water.
FOLIAR
APPLICATIONS
Apply as a fine mist until foliage is wet - For best
results, apply when the plant is cool - Do not apply
immediately before or after a rainfall or sprinkler
irrigation or when the plant is under stress. A
biodegradable surfactant i.e. EC-601 may be used to optimize dispersal
and leaf adherence.

APPLICATION
RATES
The application rates reflected above are typical.
Application rates may vary depending on environmental
conditions, soil type and fertility. Additional applications
can be made prior to or following periods of stress. It is
preferable to increase the frequency of applications rather
than the concentration of solution.
